He studied at the Architecture Department of Budapest University of Technology between 1954 and 1959. He has worked in various planning offices since the 1960's and his unique style drawing on architectural folk traditions rapidly attracted attention. He has since worked on a number of major projects including, the buildings of the excursion centre in Visegrád, the Cultural Centre of Sárospatak, several important church buildings, the Hungarian pavilion at the World Exhibition in Seville and the university campus in Piliscsaba. He has received numerous awards including, the Ybl Miklós Award, Kossuth Award, the Corvin Chain and more. He is an honorary doctor of several domestic and international universities and founder and head of many social organisations.
