He obtained his degree in 1967 from the Karl Marx University of Economics (now Corvinus University Budapest). In that same year he began to work at the Department of Finance of the university. He wrote his doctorate thesis on the models of flexible currency exchanges in 1980 and obtained his candidate's degree in 1988. He became a university professor in 1992. He was the dean of the Faculty of Economics from 1995 to 1998. At present he heads the Department of Investment of the Corvinus University Budapest. His main area of research is the analysis and management of financial market risks. He has been awarded the Apáczai Csere János and Popovics prizes
