Mr. Reichnitzer was born in 1952; he is now a professor at Széchenyi István University in the city of Győr and head of the Multidisciplinary Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the same university. He is also the director of the Scientific Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in western Hungary. His research field is the regional organisation of the economy, the spreading of new phenomena and processes, and the tools and system of institutions of regional planning and implementation. He is the chairman of the Regional Scientific Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the editor-in-chief of the periodical Space and Society. He has authored eight books on science and more than 200 essays. He is a member of the European Society of Regional Science and a regular lecturer at its German section. His professional achievements were rewarded with the 'Pro Régió' ['Pro Region'] prize in 2004.
