Raquel Poti performs during the Gay Pride parade in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 30, 2018. - For seven years, Poti, 37, performed as a stilts performer in carnival street parties and events and offered workshops in the gardens of the Museum of Modern Art in downtown Rio. With all events cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she conceived and directed a procession called The Gigantes Sonhadores, which was launched in April 2021 on YouTube. The show celebrates nomadic peoples (gypsies, travelling theatre companies) and attempts to reproduce the atmosphere of a procession like the ones which feature in Brazil's carnival street parties.
