He was born in Tiszacsege on 5th October, 1935. He obtained a degree in general medicine in 1960 from the Budapest Medical University. Between 1960 and 1962, he worked at the Institute of Pathophysiology of the University, then in the National Sports Health Institute where he is currently deputy chief director, scientific director and leader of the scientific research department. He obtained his candidate's degree in 1974 and became Doctor of the Academy in 2001. He is Vice-President of the Society of Hungarian Sports Sciences and a member of numerous committees including the I. Doctors' Committee of the Academy, the Regional Committee of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, the Society of Hungarian Sports Doctors, the Society of Hungarian Physiology, the Hungarian Rehabilitation Society, the Society of Nutrition and the International Society of the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids. His professional work has been awarded the Dalmady Zoltán and Sós József medals, the Pro Hungarian Sports medal, and the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic. He lives in Budapest with his retired wife, he has three children and three grandchildren.
