Physicist and astronomer

He obtained his degree in 1986 at the Physics and Astronomy Department of Eötvös Lóránd University (ELTE). In 1990 he was awarded a PhD and in 2003 became a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). He has been working at the Konkoly Thege Miklós Astronomy Research Institute of MTA from 1987 and became deputy director of the institute in 2000. Between 1993 and 1996 he worked at the University of Florida as a post-doctorate student with a scholarship. His main research area was the modelling of changing stars. He taught at the Astronomy Departments of ELTE and the University of Szeged. He is a member of various professional organisations and president of the Hungarian Association of Astronomers.
