The "car vending machine" store was launched by the online shopping site Tmall.com of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group. The 20-meter-tall car vending machine could hold up to 42 cars, covered an area of 1,000 square meters. Consumers can scan their faces to buy vehicles and had a three-day test drive. Ford Motor Co signed a deal with Alibaba Group Holding Ltd which allowed the U.S. automaker to test selling cars to consumers in China through Alibaba's online retail arm Tmall, as well as via the new "auto vending machine" store.
