Zoltan Gera believes he's still two or three games away from full fitness after marking his comeback with a late penalty in Albion's 1-1 FA Cup draw with Reading.
The Hungarian was given a hero's welcome when he came off the bench as a second-half substitute.
And he contributed by providing the 81stminute cross which led to Geoff Horsfield being fouled by Chris Makin.
Gera, who converted the spot-kick to score his second goal of the season, is hopeful he has finally beaten his long-term groin problem after suffering a reaction following Albion's Boxing Day defeat at Manchester United.
"I'm happy because I played again but disappointed with the result," said Gera. "I need more training because I'm not 100 per cent yet. I hope in one or two weeks' time I'll be fully fit.
"But I feel better than I did after the Manchester United game. I'm not feeling any reaction to my injury."
Regarding the penalty, Gera added: "I'm used to taking penalties from my days at Ferencvaros and with Hungary.
"I was happy to score because it's such a long time since I did. But the team is disappointed we threw it away at the end."
